KU strives to realistically and comprehensively reduce energy consumption and improve energy efficiency on campus.

KU's comprehensive energy conservation program has an overall goal of achieving and maintaining "energy intensity" below 100 kBtu/ft2 for the campus as a whole. The program primarily focuses its efforts on the buildings among the top 15% in energy use per square foot, but addresses energy efficiencies and conservation behavior throughout campus.
