Turn Off Before You Take Off

“Turn Off before Take Off” is an energy conservation program launched in the Blake Hall classrooms by the Blake Hall Green Team, the Center for Sustainability, and the KU Energy Office. “Turn Off before Take Off” encourages the last instructor in the classroom each day to turn off the computer, monitor, and other electronics in the classroom before taking off for the night.

I pledge to power down
Instructors signed two pledge cards. One is used as a prompt near the computer to remind them to turn the devices off. The other was placed in the hallway along with all the other pledge cards to showcase the collective participation in this effort.

Did you know? A PC monitor switched off for one night saves enough energy to microwave six meals!
